If you have never heard of Reddit, you have probably encountered something that was made popular on the site. Many things made popular on the site eventually go viral. And with over 1 Billion page views a month, it can make or break a trending topic.

Earlier today (Wednesday) President Obama made a surprise appearance on the website. He hosted a question and answer session with users under the username PresidentObama (surprisingly it wasn't used yet). The session was confirmed by his campaign's Twitter account. Celebrities and presidential candidates have done a Q&A on the site before, but never a sitting president.

Between 4:30 and 5 PM this afternoon, Obama fielded questions about the economy, the troops in Afghanistan and internet censorship. He also answered questions about his favorite basketball star ("Jordan - I'm a Bulls guy") and gave a teaser about the secret White House beer recipe ("It will be out soon! I can tell from first hand experience, it is tasty").

To prove that the President is just as human as you and me, one user corrected the President's grammar in a question about space exploration. To which another user responded, "You can't correct the President!"

When wrapping up his session President Obama thanked those who participated, "By the way, if you want to know what I think about this whole reddit experience - NOT BAD!" Which could have been Obama's way of acknowledging a internet meme started in his honor.
