This is for my girlies who love fun festival outfits but hate the dreaded thigh rub that can happen from all of the walking and dancing while you're just trying to live your best festie life.

This Life Hack Saved My Thighs

As someone who enjoys attending music festivals while wearing as little as humanly possible because it's usually 199 degrees under the blazing sun, and as someone who has some thick thighs, I have found the gamechanging life hack to save my life thighs.

Searching For the Best Solution For Thigh Chafing

Before I attended my first multi-day outdoor festival, I scoured the internet looking for the best way to protect my thighs from rubbing and becoming painful. I searched Google. I searched in festival-centric Facebook groups and on Reddit, and almost every recommendation was for topical products.

Thigh Chafing Creams, Sticks, Balms and More

There were recommendations for every brand of stick, cream, balm, and powder. There were recommendations for products intended for other parts of the body. Ultimately, for my first festival, I purchased a stick of one of the go-to brands for these types of products, but I just wasn't satisfied. The results didn't last and I kept having to reapply it.

There Has to Be a Better Option to Prevent Thigh Chafing

I kept searching for a better solution to help my thighs not get sore while I was enjoying the festival life. After all, it may be hot and humid, but I still want to look cute and be comfortable.

Something New to Stop My Thighs From Rubbing Together

I build most of my festival outfits using bikinis and colorful fishnets. It helps me stay cool. It's comfortable and affordable, and gives me a great base to layer accessories to create a total look. It was in a Facebook group for female festival go-ers that I found a suggestion I had not seen before, and I made a plan to implement it for my next multi-day festival.

Festival Life Can Get Crazy Hot - Especially While Camping

For the last two summers, I have spent six days in June camping alongside fellow festival goers at Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee. If you've never been, it is lifechanging, but it can be (and was) ungodly hot and humid in the middle of the 700 acre farm with little protection from the Tennessee sun. This is where I tried out the life hack that I had read about in that Facebook group I mentioned earlier.

This Festival Hack Was a Total Game Changer

When I tell you that it was nothing short of a miracle, I mean it. I did not have painful thighs. I didn't have to carry any products with me everywhere I went in case it wore off. I did not have to slather myself in any kind of cream, powder, or ointment, and I was still able to run around the Farm in my bikini outfits without the worry of the dreaded and painful thigh rub.

What's the Trick to Prevent Thigh Rub While at a Music Festival?

The trick? A pair of fishnet stockings. Now, I know I mentioned that I wear fun colored fishnets with my outfit, but the trick is to wear a sort of "base layer" fishnet. I wore a cream/beige pair with small holes (like the old school style) and then layered my colorful fishnets - or what I have always called "fence nets" since they have larger holes - over the top.

Two Are Better Than One to Prevent Friction Between Your Thighs

The two pairs of fishnets creates just enough of a physical barrier to prevent the skin on my thighs from touching, eliminating the opportunity to rub, and ultimately chafe, all together, while still being comfortable and cool in the heat.
