Skillet’s John Cooper Talks Deluxe Album, New Book, & Weirdest Fan Experience

Ahead of the upcoming 103 GBF Damn Loud Holiday Rock Show as we welcome the Rock Resurrection Tour to Evansville's Ford Center, Kat had the opportunity to talk with Skillet bassist and frontman, John Cooper.

Skillet is currently out on the road with Theory of a Deadman, along with special guest Saint Asonia for the final leg of the Rock Resurrection Tour. In its second run of dates for the tour, there are only a handful of shows remaining, including the one set to take place at Evansville's Ford Center on December 6, 2023.

New Deluxe Album Release and More

We covered a lot of ground in our interview, talking about everything from the band's deluxe album drop of Dominion: Day of Destiny, which features five previously unreleased songs, to the impact the pandemic had on the timing of the original release.

Family on the Road

We talked about a lot of things in our interview, but one thing that really stood out was that John travels on the road with his wife, and the band's guitarist, Korey, and their son. (Their daughter has grown and moved away from life on the road.) In fact, the couple have toured together the entirety of their twenty-seven years of marriage.

A New Book

Just two weeks ago, John released his new book titled Wimpy, Weak, and Woke. No stranger to the pages of publishing, it is his second book to be released. He has also authored a few graphic novels as well.

Weird Fans - "I'm Your Mom Now"

When it comes to weird fan interactions, John shared a story about a fan who, after the passing of John's mom, declared herself his "new mom." The story only gets stranger from there and you can hear John tell the tale in the interview below.
