Evansville Area Jeepers Activate Emergency Ride Help Program
With a Winter Storm Warning in place for the weekend, a local group of off-road enthusiasts is stepping up to help keep essential workers moving.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Evansville area, raising concerns about hazardous travel conditions across the region.
In response, the Evansville Area Jeepers are once again activating Operation Snowflake, a volunteer-based effort designed to help essential hospital workers safely get to and from work when road conditions become dangerous.

How Operation Snowflake Works
According to a post shared by the Evansville Area Jeepers, members across the area are preparing to transport hospital staff during winter State of Emergency weather events when most vehicles may not be able to safely travel.
If road conditions are deemed impassable or a State of Emergency is declared, Operation Snowflake may be activated to assist with transportation.

What Hospital Workers Need To Do
Hospital workers in need of a ride should first call the Operation Snowflake phone number at (930) 688-0255. The voicemail message will provide the current status of the operation.
If Operation Snowflake is active, workers are instructed to text the same number with their name, pickup location, and drop-off location.
Rides are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be scheduled in advance. Because the program is entirely volunteer-based, availability cannot be guaranteed.
Important Limitations To Know
Operation Snowflake operates between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, allowing volunteers time to rest and remain safe during severe weather conditions.
The Evansville Area Jeepers stress that hospital workers should allow plenty of extra time when requesting transportation, especially during peak demand periods or worsening weather.
As winter weather moves into the area, the group’s efforts highlight how local volunteers can make a critical difference during dangerous travel conditions.
