It seems that every few years some group gets it's panties in a twist over a school's mascot. It seems the days of being a Warrior, Rebel, or Redskin are over. Now, thanks to middle aged women, it seems being a 'Cougar' may be on it's way out too.

It used to be that a cougar was, "a large American wild cat with a plain tawny to grayish coat". Now, according to Urban Dictionary, it means "a 35+ year old female who is on the "hunt" for a much younger, energetic, willing-to-do-anything male."

With that in mind, it is no surprise that a soon-to-be opened high school in Draper, Utah dropped the mascot. Parent's were complaining that students could take the mascot the wrong way.

If I see some idiot at a basketball game dressed up as a large cat, I will assume that is the school's mascot. If I see someone dressed up in 'mom jeans', a push up bra, and carrying around a box of Franzia, I will know they were going for the alternate definition of 'cougar'. Either that, or I'm about to get awkwardly hit on.

How far will this 'mascot war' go? Will our future generations have to take part of teams called 'Stars' or 'Sparkle'? Or ever worse, they can go the Community route, and become the 'human beings'.
