WHAT IS 2-1-1 AND HOW CAN IT HELP ME?
Believe it or not, 2-1-1 has been around since the beginning of 2020. Of course, the pandemic kind of stole the show and overshadowed a lot of good things that happened.
2-1-1 is a fantastic resource that helps people in need in a variety of ways.
United Ways all across Kentucky work every day to build safer, stronger communities. When you or someone you know is in need of assistance, your local United Way is there. Kentucky 2-1-1 is your easy-to-remember access number for this information and referral service provided by United Way.
Basically, you call 2-1-1 and there is an operator standing by 24/7 to help you with whatever you need from the above list and beyond. They can take your information and then refer you to whatever you may need.
Here in Owensboro the biggest need shown through the number is utilities. There is a huge request for utility help. 2-1-1 can help find all the different contacts you need.
I was in a meeting a few nights ago and one of our local United Way, Director of Community Impact, Vicki Embry was in attendance and she shared the information about 2-1-1 with us. She said they are still working hard to get the word out and asked us to share with others. Please do the same so everyone is aware there is help.
