Marilyn Manson is one of the kings of the cover song. For over two decades, the Antichrist Superstar has covered dozens of classic tracks, turning them into the things nightmares are made of.

“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” is Manson’s most celebrated cover. In fact, it’s the most-played song of his entire concert career. The original cut by the Eurythmics was sort of creepy in a new wave way, but Manson recognized how disturbing the song could sound with his own twist. Plenty of fans even consider Manson’s take to be better than the original.

‘80s new wave tends to be Manson’s sweet spot when it comes to covers. Soft Cell’s iconic “Tainted Love” was transformed by Manson twenty years after its initial release, with the shock rocker even making a music video for the cut.

This month, he returned to the genre again, when he unleashed a version of “Cry Little Sister,” the theme from cult classic vampire flick The Lost Boys. The cover has already surpassed a million views on YouTube with rave reviews coming from fans. Manson’s touch for revitalizing old school tracks has far from faded.
