Queen, Motley Crue, Elton John and now...the Sex Pistols. Rock biopics seem to be a hot topic this year, and from the looks of it, more are on the way. The legendary punk band is the most recently announced rock and roll movie to be in the works.

The U.K. based Starlight Films has reportedly been working on the film for the last year and a half. “We were impressed by the box office takings for Bohemian Rhapsody. It only goes to show the public has an appetite for these films," filmmaker Ayesha Plunkett tells The Daily Star. A timeline has yet to be established, however the production company plans to begin casting soon.

Band manager Malcolm McLaren and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood are apparently going to be the main focus of the film as it discusses the Pistols' journey to stardom in the late '70s.

This will surely make for an interesting twist on rock and roll movies as the Sex Pistols were considered the pioneers of the punk rock movement in the U.K. While the Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody and Motley Crue's The Dirt received some criticism for inaccurately portraying the timeline of the bands' several-decade-long careers, the Pistols were only together from 1975 until 1978, so only time will tell how well the filmmakers capture their story.
