The first ever "Paws 4 Vets" event is happening this Saturday afternoon on Evansville's east side and it's benefiting one of the neatest organization's in the Tri-State...Soldier Dogs for Independence.

Before my interview this morning with their president, I had no idea what Soldier Dogs for Independence was or that it even existed. This non-profit organization takes rescue/shelter dogs and pairs them up with local veterans who may be living with physical and/or mental injuries. These "soldier" dogs essentially help our vets live as normal of a life as possible. Can you think of a better cause?

So this Saturday the folks from Animapalooza are hosting a benefit event at VFW Post 2953 on Pollack Avenue from 2p-9p. There will be food, drinks, live music, an auction, a half-pot and other activities - all for a mere $5 donation to Soldier Dogs for Independence. All veterans and children under 12 get in FREE.

Soldier Dogs president Mike Barrentine and Animalpalooza president Lisa Ellsworth stopped by the studio today to talk more about the event and the organization. PLEASE take a few minutes to listen to the interview below, and then PLEASE attend the event on Saturday afternoon.
