While I have never been involved in the pageant world, I have had many friends participate over the years. Even now, as adults, they walk their gorgeous selves down the runway, exude class, and do amazing work in the community.

I HAVE, however, been VERY involved in the art world. So when I saw this video pop up on my FYP, I had to see what it was all about. A pageant gal was doing something for her talent portion of the competition that I hadn't seen before. Singing, playing an instrument, dancing, acting, baton twirling (lol jk) are some of the most common choices, so I was surprised that this was so different.

Miss Shelby Dawn Springall (what a cute name btw!) is a speed painter! Watch:

@shelby__dawn MISS UTAH 2026 TALENT!! ✨💕Oh how i LOVE being a speed painter. There’s nothing like watching a blank canvas turn into something meaningful in just 90 SECONDS. I couldn’t go without honoring my fellow sparkly blonde gal, @Dolly Parton . 💎✨ #missamerica #missutah #speedpaint #dollyparton ♬ original sound - shelby dawn

I've seen other speed painters before, but they don't put on a sassy little show quite like her! (Sorry, Kizer!) I mean, those pants are EVERYTHING. The color, the fit, the fringe, the boots. Love! Not to mention, she did a great job on the painting! It looks just like Dolly, and she even painted her autograph upside down.

Shelby, Miss Iron County, did not end up a finalist in this pageant (It was the 100th anniversary of the Miss Utah Competition), but she won over the crowd and now the whole internet! And a fun fact! There is a Kentucky connection here. Heather French Henry, Miss America 2000, was the official emcee!
