Non-Profit T-Ball League Launching Spring Season

I always hear people saying their children are too young to play ball, or there isn't a league for their child. Well, guess what? There is in Warrick County! Matt and Sheena Pfingston of Newburgh have been working their tails off to make the non-profit Little Tikes Coed T-Ball League a reality for kids wanting to start playing ball. A league perfect for learning the basics of baseball and softball. Currently, the league is open to all boys and girls aged two to five. There are no restrictions on location either (they've had players from as far as Paducah and Jasper). As the league grows, they hope to be big enough to have separate age groups to better focus on each age group's needs. Spring registration is $80 and takes place this Friday in Chandler at the ball field (Chandler Sports Park). Registration fee includes field rental, t-shirt, hat, popsicles at every game and practice, and a trophy at the end of the season. The Spring session will begin on April 7th and conclude on Saturday, May 23. An expected 100 openings will be available for Summer and Fall leagues, as they will be formed sooner rather than later.

Little Tikes Is A Non-Profit Always Looking For Help

A complete volunteer production, not only are they always looking for coaches and various volunteers, but there are a lot of moving parts in a non-profit organization like this. Boonville resident Cody Morrow donates mowing services to the fields, all of the coaches are volunteers, food trucks are generally the concessions, and the Pfingstons haven't taken a dime off the top. All of the money goes back into the fields, the needs of the teams, or to basic improvements of the league, and most importantly, the kids. This is a true community effort, and a community effort takes community members. As an added perk to encourage coaches to volunteer, their child's registration fee is waived. High school athlete looking for volunteer hours? This is a great opportunity! If you'd like to get involved, get registered, or for more information, check out Little Tikes Facebook page.
