Law enforcement across Indiana will participate alongside agencies across the nation as part of a "high-visibility enforcement campaign."

What Is Click It or Ticket?

Part of a nationwide initiative funded by the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) with grants from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI), Indiana law enforcement agencies will promote safe driving habits, including wearing your seatbelt.

How Many Indiana Drivers Wear Seatbelts?

According to information shared from the ICJI, approximately 93.6% of Hoosier drivers wear their seatbelts. However, that means that 6.4% of Indiana drivers are still putting their lives at risk when they get behind the wheel.

Why Seatbelt Use Is Still a Serious Safety Issue

As we head into summer, this is a great time to remember the importance of wearing a seatbelt while driving or traveling in an automobile. Statistically, the risk of injury or death in a car accident is reduced by up to 65% by properly wearing a seatbelt.

Research consistently shows that seat belts can reduce the risk of injury or death in a crash by up to 65%. Without one, people are at a higher risk of being ejected from a vehicle, which can lead to fatal outcomes

Properly wearing a seatbelt helps to ensure you remain secure inside your vehicle during a crash, according to ICJI.

When the 2025 Enforcement Dates Will Take Place

Indiana State Police will participate in the safe driving initiative beginning May 17, 2025, and continuing through May 31st, according to a post made on the Facebook page for the ISP's Jasper Post. The dates for the enforcement initiative, as shared directly from NHTSA, will occur May 19th - June 1, 2025. During this time, police departments across Indiana and the United States will be enforcing the Click It or Ticket campaign.

Buckle up, and stay safe.
