The River City Pride Parade and Festival are making their glorious and colorful return to Evansville for 2023.

Meet River City Pride

River City Pride is Evansville's newest LGBTQIA+ organization. The focus of River City Pride is to unite, educate, and serve the community, and they are currently in the process of planning the 2022 Pride Festival and Parade.

Evansville's First-Ever Pride Parade and Festival

Remember, back in 2019, pre-pandemic? That was when River City Pride hosted Evansville's first-ever Pride Parade and Festival. It was an incredible day full of joy, love, and celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. The streets were lined with people cheering as the parade made its way through downtown Evansville and once the parade came to a close, the festival began!

2020 Was The Year of Cancelations

During the First Annual River City Pride Festival, there were plenty of food and vendor booths, music, dancing, drag, and more. It was a truly magical and memorable day!  In 2020, the coronavirus threw a bit of a wrench in the works when it came to the Second Annual Pride Parade and Festival. The pandemic forced event organizers to cancel the event.

2021 Was The Year of Redirections

While River City Pride had hoped that 2021 would be the year we returned to live events, ultimately the organization had to pivot, creating a virtual event instead. With that shift, came the decision to push the celebration back from the traditional month of Pride celebration in June to October, which is the month that National Coming Out Day is observed. The event was shifted to a live stream with a Halloween theme - A Virtual Spooky Pride - shared via Facebook Live.

2022 Was The Year River City Pride Parade and Festival Returned

We were so excited that River City Pride made a triumphant return in 2022 with the Pride Parade and Festival. We were excited to have been a part of such a beautiful and inclusive event.
