Evansville Poke Restaurant Announces Temporary Closure
Poke River on Evansville's east side announced that they will be temporarily closing.
What is poke?
When many of my friends refer to poke (pronounced poe-kay, rhymes with "okay") as basically a sushi roll in a bowl, Poke is actually Hawaiin and has recently seen a rise in popularity. According to FoodAndWine.com:
The word poke simply means “chunk” in Hawaiian. That said, in the past poke was typically any meat or seafood that is cut into small chunks and marinated.
If you haven't tried poke, don't write it off just yet! There's all kinds of variations of poke, and chances are there's a variation you will find that you like. My husband and I frequently get takeout from Poke River so I was super bummed to see that they would be temporarily closed.
Where is Poke River?
poke River is located on Evansville's east side, 6240 E. Virginia is their address. They serve up a lot more than just poke there too. They have ramen, sushi, hibachi, bubble tea, and of course poke.
Is Poke River closing?
Well it would seem Poke River is closing temporarily. Poke River took to their Facebook page today to say the following:
