Downtown Evansville is getting ready to glow. The city’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony returns next Saturday night, and this year’s celebration promises to be one of the most festive yet.

Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry is inviting the community to bundle up, bring the whole family, and join in as the holiday season officially begins in the heart of our city.

Where the Evansville Holiday Tree Lighting Takes Place

If you are planning to take part in Small Business Saturday, this is the perfect excuse to make a full day of it. Spend the afternoon exploring the boutiques, restaurants, and shops along Main Street, and then stick around as Downtown transforms into a winter wonderland.

Festivities begin at 6:30 pm with hot chocolate, live holiday performances, and pictures with Santa. The annual tree lighting ceremony, taking place in front of the Civic Center building located at 1 NW Martin Luther King, Jr Boulevard, is one of those perfectly nostalgic moments that makes you feel like the main character in a holiday movie.

What to Expect at This Year’s Tree Lighting Event

Children can drop off their letters to Santa. Families can snap photos at any one of the Downtown photo opportunities, and everyone can enjoy the magic that comes with being surrounded by neighbors and friends.

Why the Downtown Tree Lighting Is a Local Favorite

At 7:00 pm, the switch will be flipped and Evansville’s Holiday Tree will light up the night. It's a tradition that brings the community together every year, and Mayor Terry says she hopes to see the city show up once again.

How Families Can Join in the Holiday Fun

Whether you stop by after shopping or make the ceremony your evening destination, this is one of Downtown’s most cherished holiday events. Grab your hot cocoa, bring your holiday spirit, and get ready to celebrate the start of the season in the heart of Evansville.
