Former President Barack Obama just released his year-end lists for 2018, and a rock track made it on his personal list of favorite songs.

Obama is a well-known connoisseur of classical music, hip-hop, soul, pop and classic rock. However, the two-term Commander-in-chief goes on deeper dives than we thought. Obama’s year-end songs list features superstar artists like Cardi B and Chance the Rapper, but he also gave a shout-out to The War on Drugs’ Kurt Vile for his solo track “One Trick Ponies.”

“One Trick Ponies” was released on Vile’s 2018 album Bottle It In, which peaked at No. 79 on the Billboard 200 chart. A music video for the single was posted to YouTube on Oct. 4, so the Kurt Vile cut was a late entry onto Obama’s list. The track has accumulated over 400,000 views on YouTube, and with Obama’s nod of approval, it’s about to get much more traction.

Also making the 44th President’s list was the late Prince for his 'Piano & A Microphone 1983’ version of “Mary Don’t You Weep.”

"As 2018 draws to a close, I’m continuing a favorite tradition of mine and sharing my year-end lists," Obama writes. "It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved. It also gives me a chance to highlight talented authors, artists, and storytellers – some who are household names and others who you may not have heard of before. Swipe through to see my best of 2018 list – I hope you enjoy reading, watching, and listening."

During his presidency, Obama regularly held concerts at the White House, with artists like Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck and many others performing at the special events.
