The 30 Greatest Romantic Couples In Comics
Valentine’s Day weekend is upon us, and love, bad chocolate, and expensive restaurant reservations are everywhere you look. To mark the occasion, we’ve compiled a list of the 30 greatest couples in comics. These are the romantic pairings whose stories inspire us to believe in the power of love, and whose devotion to each other may provide a model for how to woo your own beloved when they’re cloned, or possessed by evil forces, or you forget their birthday or whatever.
The ranking for this list comes from polls you voted in last year, so this is the definitive list, because you are brilliant and insightful. It’s worth noting that these polls we didn’t pit the couples against each other, March Madness style. We pit them against themselves, as voters were asked to decide if each couple was ‘True Love’ or a ‘Bad Romance’. Each couple’s rank is determined by their True Love score, with the #1 spot going to the couple you deemed the most genuinely enamored.
For the record, right down at the bottom end of the scale as the very worst couples you voted for were Gambit and Rogue; Wolverine and Storm; Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne; Batman and Talia al Ghul; Harley Quinn and The Joker; and any pairing with Namor (Marrina, Emma Frost, or Sue Storm).
One romantic pairing that’s clearly missing from our top 30 is Archie Andrews and… well, we’ll leave it up to you to decide who the other half of that couple should be in the poll below. As for the other couples missing from the list, you’ll be sure to tell us in the comments!
