Have you ever looked at the title of a song and thought "Wait, what does that even mean?" (It happens more often than you'd think.)

Some song titles are just metaphors that you really gotta dig deep to understand. Like the entirety of Green Day's "Dookie" and "Insomniac " albums (Longview, Basket Case, Geek Stink Breath, Brain Stew...They're all thinkers. If you actually read through the lyrics they start to make sense.)

But there are other songs that just have song titles that, while iconic now, don't actually have anything to do with the song. ...At least, I don't think they do.

The Smashing Pumpkins -Bullet with Butterfly Wings

With the opening line of "The world is a vampire" and a chorus of "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage", when you hear that the title of the song is "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" you're just like "Sure, why not?"

Faith No More -Epic

I don't think the title has anything to do with the song other than the fact that this song is, in fact, "epic".

Also, what IS it? "It's it." Yeah, but what is 'it'? "IT'S IT."

Side note: This is the most 90's music video of all 90's music videos.

Stone Sour -Song #3

At least with Blur's "Song 2", it was the second track on their album, which explained the title. Stone Sour, however, have "Song #3" as the fifth track on their latest album 'Hydrograd'. Was it the 3rd song they wrote for their album? I don't know. All I know is that the title has nothing to do with the song.

And the music video is awesome.

Chumbawamba -Tubthumping

This song needs no explanation as to why it's on this list. But it needs SO MANY explanations in general. What even IS this song??? What is it about? Why are they drinking so many drinks? WHAT IS TUBTHUMPING???

System of a Down -Chop Suey!

....I'm sorry, what?

Linkin Park -Faint

Nothing about this song is "faint". The only reason this song should be called "faint" is because if you try to sing it during karaoke you might faint.

SONG TITLE DEBUNKED!

During the course of my life there has always been one song title that bugged the crap out of me. "Bohemian Rhapsody". A kick-ass title for a kick-ass song, true. But what does it mean????? Well, today I finally cracked open my Merriam-Webster Dictionary I have on my shelf that I haven't used since college and found out why.

Bohemian (noun) -a person who has informal and unconventional social habits, especially an artist or writer.

Rhapsody (???)- a portion of an epic poem adapted for recitation.

This song makes so much more sense now! It's just an epic rock poem! Which...I kind of already knew in the first place, but now I have proof and the title makes sense to me now!

Do you know of any songs that have strange titles that have nothing to do with the song at all?
