The following post contains SPOILERS for both versions of Justice League. Beware.

The theatrical cut of Justice League that was completed by Joss Whedon is a bad movie. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a better movie. That doesn’t mean, however, that the original Justice League had no redeeming qualities whatsoever — or that the new one is perfect. While I definitely prefer the “Snyder Cut” overall, I also recognize that there are a few — not a ton, mind you, but at least a couple — things that the theatrical cut not only did right, it still does better than the new version that’s available on HBO Max right now.

The list below features five of those things. Some of my choices (probably all of my choices) may come down to subjective taste. Still, if I could Frankenstein a version of Justice League that merged the best of Snyder’s cut with a few of the items below, I do think that would be the true ultimate version of the material.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is available to stream now on HBO Max.
