Vanderburgh County Indiana Road Closed After Truck Becomes Stuck in Tunnel
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, a road on the north side of the county has been closed after a truck got stuck passing through the tunnel of a railroad overpass.
Too Tall To Fit
It appears, based on the photo shared by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office via Twitter, that the offending vehicle, which appears to be a box truck of some sort, was too tall to allow adequate clearance to make its way through the bridge overpass tunnel located on Mohr Road. This has forced the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office to close Mohr Road for the time being.
A large truck has become stuck at the railroad bridge on Mohr Rd. The road is closed as we try to extricate the truck. Please try to avoid the area
Not the First Time
This is not the first time that a truck or large vehicle has gotten lodged in this particular train overpass tunnel. Back in 2020, a truck carrying, of all things, chocolate milk, got stuck when the driver of it too misjudged the vehicle's ability to clear the height of the overpass, according to Evansville's Courier & Press.
More About the Mohr Road Railroad Bridge
The tunnel is located in Vanderburgh County, north of Evansville, and can be found at N 38° 03.067 W 087° 35.338. The tunnel was originally constructed in 1910, based on the stamping in the concrete above the arch. The tunnel was constructed to act as a railroad overpass, allowing trains to pass over Mohr Road.
