The Oscars Memoriam Leaves Out Actor Sid Haig
Amanda Edwards / Stringer
Horror fans are used to Oscar snubs, and that's fine, but this was quite the oversight.
Sid Haig is well known for his work as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's movies, House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and last year's 3 From Hell. Sid brought an element to Captain Spaulding, that really made him a memorable character. He was the likable bad guy, that you secretly rooted for. He truly was able to take Captain Spaulding and make him into an iconic horror character. Not only did he work on Rob Zombie movies, if you look at his IMDB page, Sid Haig was no stranger to the acting world, in fact he has almost 150 acting credits under his belt.
Beyond acting, Sid Haig was well known for regular appearances at horror festivals and conventions to meet fans and sign autographs. He was truly a fan favorite. He sadly passed away on September 21, 2019 at the age of 80. Unfortunately he was left out of the Oscars 2020 in Memoriam, which for horror fans everywhere was a huge oversight on the Oscars part.
