The things that are part of my lifestyle and pasttimes include women, rock music, fitness and the underbelly of America, inpareticular, the tri-state area.  I've recently done some blogging and also on air stuff about the creepy places of the tr-state like the old Salem Kirche and old tuberculosis hospital.  More of that is to come as I'll be doing some Q & A with Mr.X, the webmaster of the awesome website recreationaltresspasser.com.   I'm also interested in urban decay and things like ghost towns.  A ghost town is merely a place where a community used to be, but for whatever reason (usually a massive flood or closing of industry/loss of jobs) that town dried up and disappeared.  One example of a nearby ghost town is Old Shawneetown, IL.

Most are familiar with New Shawneetown, which is located along Illinois Rte 13, and consists mainly of auto service businesses. But, Old Shawneetown is west and north of the highway, has a few residents in the old homes; most of its population today is squatters in trailers.
Not much remains of Old Shawneetown.  Many abandoned buildings and stores; the most prominent among them is the old brick school. Shawneetown developed as a result of the shipping trade on the Ohio River; as alternative modes of transport and other cities took over this trade, Shawneetown went into decline and eventually dried up.  If you're weird like me and would like to submit some material for my future blogs, anything from haunted places, run down creepy places, ufo sightings, bigfoot...whatever.  As long as it's local and kinda weird, I wanna know about it.  You can always reach me at sandman@103gbfrocks.com.
