The Caboose is a Delicious Hidden Gem in Downtown Evansville
This may just be the coolest little carry-out restaurant I've ever!
Hidden Gems
Recently the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District shared some information about a really cool hidden gem in downtown Evansville, that honestly I didn't even know existed! I've lived in the Evansville area for my whole life, and there are so many little quirky shops and restaurants that I feel like I'm constantly learning about. This was no different!
Evansville's Historic Curtis Building
I'm ashamed to say, that the only thing I've ever really known about the Curtis Building in downtown Evansville was that it had the coolest neon lights on the side of it. That was about the extent of my knowledge of this historic building (I mean look at these photos taken inside of the Curtis Building, this building is incredible), and recently I learned there is a full-on train caboose located at the Curtis Building that is a restaurant!
The Caboose
Serving up breakfast and lunch to go on Monday through Thursday is a little hidden gem called The Caboose. The name is appropriate because this restaurant is located, well, in a caboose.
The Caboose is a carry-out restaurant that specializes in breakfast and lunch carry-out. They also offer catering services. I checked out their menu and it sounds absolutely delicious. They serve up fresh salads, wraps, breakfast burritos, smoothies, and plenty more!
Here is what the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District has to say about The Caboose:
Have you been to the red caboose, located at The Curtis Building? The office building was formerly the Parsons & Scoville grocery warehouse, which received many shipments by rail. The train was added in January 1995 as a snack bar and was meant to acknowledge the importance rail has played in the building's success. The Caboose is open Monday through Thursday for carry-out breakfast and lunch. The operator, Robyn Legeay, has been in the food service industry for over 20 years. Popular items on the menu include wraps and the daily specials (we've included a photo of the menu and the listing of specials). Catering and boxed lunches are also available.
I know where I'm going for my next lunch break!
Thank you so much to Downtown Evansville for allowing me to share your photos! Be sure to follow Downtown Evansville on Facebook to stay up to date on all things downtown!
