Suicide Squad is the latest film from DC Comics' cinematic universe, and while it has received mostly negative reviews, many die-hard DC fans have come away thrilled by the villain-centric romp. I'm just going to start this review off by saying I wouldn't be surprised if the Suicide Squad sequel gets cancelled... This movie was...well,...it was a movie...

Next week the world goes Suicide Squad crazy with the release of the much promoted feature film starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. DC Comics is capitalizing on the buzz by launching a number of new Suicide Squad titles to coincide with the film's release, including a brand new volume of the titular series, and we've got a preview of Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 by Rob Williams, Philip Tan and Jonathan Glapion.

If there’s one thing superhero movie fans know, it’s that you don’t leave your seat once the credits start rolling.

As this mediocre summer movie season nears an end, there’s a little bit of pressure on Suicide Squad to deliver the goods. The trailers are great, the cast looks fantastic, and we’re even excited about Jared Leto’s Joker — despite that jarring Hot Topic street thug aesthetic. David Ayer’s DC super-villain flick hits theaters next week, and just in case you need a couple of extra reasons to get out and see it, WB has released a new featurette that puts the focus on the film’s practical stunts.

Trailer-crafting can prove every much an art as filmmaking itself, and whether or not Suicide Squad manages to right the course of DC movies, the David Ayer villain thriller will have given us several great promos. So great, in fact, that even your aversion to mash-up trailers wouldn’t dare extend to this pretty spectacular pairing with Game of Thrones.

I spent the weekend visiting an old friend who has two kids in elementary school. I was at the movies with them, and we saw a trailer for Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie was on screen waving a mallet around, and I heard my friend’s eight-year-old daughter gasp and say, “That’s Harley Quinn! Mom, I wanna see that movie!” As characters on the screen fired guns and threatened each other with knives, axes, and swords, my friend turned to her daughter and said “Sorry honey, I don’t think this is going to be a movie for kids.”

Not only did Harley Quinn become an instant fan favorite following her debut on Batman: The Animated Series, but she quickly became an iconic villain, and it wasn’t long before she transitioned to the pages of DC Comics. While most fans agree that Margot Robbie is the perfect choice for the role in Suicide Squad, there’s been much less agreement over her wardrobe — or lack thereof — in David Ayer’s upcoming film. Robbie herself has officially chimed in, offering her thoughts on Harley’s controversial fashion choices.

Suicide Squad + Freinds Theme = One Happy Chynna. Not only is it funny, it's also a good introduction to the characters. And if you didn't clap in the beginning, you're lying...I know you totally did.

The Suicide Squad cast assembled at CinemaCon yesterday to introduce their upcoming movie, and as they walked the red carpet prior to their big presentation the cast all reminisced fondly about all the creepy s–- that Jared Leto sent that during filming...

Though you would have thought a great deal of Mattel's Toy Fair event would have been focused on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which to be fair it was, there were actually more new figures on hand from August's Suicide Squad film. Many of the Dawn of Justice figures have already hit retail, but the upcoming villain-led film made a surprise showing, and Mattel revealed almost the entire team this weekend. Interestingly enough, there was no Suicide Squad branding on any of the new figures. Where DC Collectibles and other specialty lines can get away with putting the word "suicide" on the box, it's a tougher sell for mass market figures that will show up in Target and Walmart. The Suicide Squad will fit in with the DC Multiverse line, offering 6" versions of the team in the branding you're already seeing for characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman for Dawn of Justice, and Flash and Green Arrow from their respective TV shows. Where those media properties get the film/show logo slapped on the side of the box, it'll be interesting to see what Mattel puts on these packages to indicate just where these guys came from.
