Normally, "Giving Tuesday" takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to give some of the money they use on holiday shopping to their favorite non-profit. With the COVID-19 pandemic creating economic challenges for everyone, including non-profits as people scale back their giving, organizers of the now eight year event have added today (May 5th, 2020) as an extra day to help any and all non-profits around the world who are feeling the pinch of the downturn in donations.

One of those non-profits is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Of course the hospital holds a special place in our hearts as the doctors and researchers have helped save the lives of many children who live here in the Tri-State, so any chance we get to let you know how you can join the fight against childhood cancer, we're going to do it.

Two of those chances comes later today through two separate virtual events. The first of which starts at 10:30 a.m. Central and will be hosted by the Indianapolis office of the hospital's fundraising arm, ALSAC, who we work closely with every February during our annual Radiothon. The "No More Cancer Rally" will happen live on their Facebook page, and will give you the opportunity to become a Partner in Hope to help St. Jude put an end to childhood cancer.

The second event will be hosted by the hospital itself starting at 2:00 p.m. Central. The "Take 5 Together" event is scheduled for four hours and will feature several of St. Jude's celebrity friends including "Scotty McCreery, Michael Strahan, Drew Barrymore, Ashley Tisdale, Nick and JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and many more," along with more patients and families who have been given hope thanks to the hospital. You can watch the event on St. Jude's  YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Here's a little peak at what they have in store.

Of course you don't have to wait until either of these events get underway to become a Partner in Hope. You can join the fight against childhood cancer anytime through the St. Jude website.
