It's day two of our annual St. Jude Radiothon, and our radiothon happens to fall on an important date. On February 4th, 1962 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital first opened its doors in Memphis Tennessee. Since then St. Jude has worked tirelessly to continue its life-saving research.

Sixty years ago today St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened, but the dream of St. Jude started well before February 4, 1962. It began with Danny Thomas and a willingness to give back to the country that had given him so much. Today, we celebrate Danny's legacy of gratitude and appreciation. We cheer the many researchers, doctors and staff who push the boundaries of science to save the lives of children around the globe.
We honor all St. Jude patients, past and present. And we give thanks to our loyal supporters for making our mission possible. Because of you, St. Jude is able to expand in scope and extend its lifesaving mission to help more children around the world. #stjude60

When St. Jude opened their doors in 1962 the overall childhood cancer survival rate sat at only 20%, over the last 60 years with the research they've been conducting at St. Jude the overall survival rate sits at 80% but St. Jude won't stop until NO child dies of cancer.
