Blizzard Conditions

The temperatures are expected to drop, and we have already been warned of "blizzard conditions" for the Evansville-Owensboro area. And to clarify, "blizzard conditions" do not necessarily mean tons of snow but rather frigid temperatures, high winds, snow, and reduced visibility. However, Chicago and Midwest Storm Chasers are predicting significant snowfall in central and northern Indiana and they say winds in the northern part of the state could exceed 55 mph making travel all but impossible.

How Much Snow?

They are saying that parts of Central Indiana could see between 8 and 12 inches of snow possible with this storm. The northern parts of the Hoosier State could see upwards of 24 inches or more.

Northern Illinois/NW Indiana/SW Michigan near the Lake could see some big time lake enhancement. The snowfall totals near the lake could exceed more then 12"+ in some areas, 55mph+ Winds, And Impossible traveling conditions.

NW Indiana/SW Michigan near the lake could see a sweet spot of 24"+ due to extreme lake Enhancement, But well see if the model trends continue.

How to Prepare

Obviously with the temperatures expected to dip down, now is definitely the time to ensure that your home is prepared for the freezing weather. Make sure you have plenty of food and drinkable water to last a few days for you and your family. Ensure that your pets have everything they need as well, in the event that you need to hunker down and stay in place. If you do have to get out and travel, allow extra time to get to your destination.
