If You Like Last Week’s Snow, You’re Gonna Love Kentucky’s Weekend Forecast

Last Thursday morning here in the Owensboro area, we were hit with a pretty hefty snow. When I went into the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce Rooster Rooster Breakfast to emcee it, it had just started spitting snow.  When I walked out of the Owensboro Convention Center two hours later, we had multiple inches already on the ground and the roads were completely covered.

That snow, for the most part, was relatively dry.  So, it was nearly impossible for the kids (who were all out of school) to make a snowman.  That'll change with our next batch of snow, which is in the forecast for this Saturday.

Ron Rhodes shared his Eyewitness News forecast with us this morning.

As you heard, Ron is expecting a heavy and wet snow- PERFECT for building a snowman. But, at this time, it's too early to tell exactly how much we're going to get and how big those snowmen are going to be.  I checked with the National Weather Service, The Weather Channel and AccuWeather to see what their current forecasts are projecting.  Here's what they're saying:

Notice the NWS forecast isn't yet predicting totals.  They're primarily focusing on the chance for a rain/snow mix on and off throughout the day.

A chance of snow before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow between noon and 5pm, then a slight chance of snow after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.

Though totals are subject to change, AccuWeather is predicting very little snow accumulation (3/10 of an inch) because of the rain.

The Weather Channel is being a little more aggressive in its forecast.

Of course, as we get closer to the weekend, we'll check back in with Ron Rhodes at Eyewitness News and we'll update you accordingly. In the meantime, get ready!  If you've been wanting to build a snowman, you may get the chance Saturday.
