I may be a full-fledged adult but I still believe in dressing up for Halloween and I've got your look at Halloween Costumes from years gone by.

It is no big secret that I love Halloween and have said on more than one occasion that for me, Halloween is better than Christmas. I love the idea of dressing up and pretending to be something or someone else for a night. I typically put a lot of thought into my costumes well in advance. I thought I would share some of my costumes from over the years...

Young Vampire Kat (and Fairy Mini Me)

This is circa 2002. I died my hair black and went as a vampire. My daughter was a Fairy Princess that year.

Dark Fairy Kat

In 2006 I wore a fierce pair of big black combat boots and some extra big black fairy wings. Add in some glitter, and I was a dark fairy.

Pirate Kat

This year consisted of a pink peasant top, a waist cincher and some red fabric to make my headband and waistband. This was around 2007.

Vampire Kat

Fast Forward to 2012 and I once again dressed in all black, slapped on some red eye shadow and broke out my fangs.

La Catrina Kat

2013 brought about something I had always wanted to try - Dia De Los Muertos makeup. This look took me a couple of hours to pull together but I was really pleased with the final product. It was really more about the makeup than the outfit.

Pinup Captain America Kat

In 2014, my friend Nikki put together the corset/bra portion of my costume and another friend made the shield for me. I pulled together the rest of the look using cool accessories, including the helmet and boots which I painted myself.

Queen of Hearts Kat

In 2015 I dressed as the Queen of Hearts! Using a corset bought online and a skirt that was given to me by a friend, I went to town with glittered hearts and glittered ribbon. I even decorated my shoes! I had so much fun making this costume and the best part! I was dressed with my friends Nikki and Mary as Disney Villains.

Pink Kitty Kat/Halloween Barbie Kat

In 2016, I used two different looks to celebrate Halloween - one involved a pair of cat ears and some fun makeup to turn me into a family friendly kitty kat for Halloween Weekends at Lake Rudolph. The other was what I affectionately referred to as "Halloween Barbie," complete with pastel wig. This was also my first Halloween with Shawn, who incidentally, loves Halloween as much as I do!!! Check out his demon (L) and skeleton (R) costumes.

Mermaid Kat and Voodoo Priest

I decided that since I have actually dyed my hair pink and I've discovered this year that I am in fact part mermaid, it only made sense that for Halloween 2017, I would personify my inner mermaid. I made my costume from a thrifted dress, some fabric a bag of seashells and some other odds & ends. I even made my crown! Big shout out to Shawn for helping me with the spray paint. I'm good with a glue gun, but spray paint - not so much! It's worth noting that Shawn created his costume this year as well. That staff? Completely handmade! We take Halloween very seriously!
