Over the past year, you have seen food delivery services like DoorDash, Grub Hub, UberEATS, and many more take off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  It’s easy to see why though.  You don’t have to leave your house and within 15 minutes some of your favorite restaurant dishes are delivered right to your door.  However, our newfound love of super convenience is taking a toll on our overall health.

A recent study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found that “frequent consumption of restaurant made meals can lead to an early death.”  This shouldn’t come as a shock, but yes, eating out often is not really a great thing for you. The study looked at different individuals over a 15-year period and those who ate at least 2 restaurants prepared meals a day increased their chance of dying early by 49 percent.

I think it’s safe to say that for a lot of us eating out this past year went up.  I mean it was so very easy to just place an order for pick-up or delivery.  We didn’t have to worry about the hassle of making anything ourselves and, to be honest, it made us all feel a little better about what was happening around us.  Food tends to do that.

That being said, in a year when the status of our health was (is) very important studies like this one are just as important.  You can’t be willing to sacrifice your well-being all for the sake of convenience and comfort.  Now, I am not saying you can’t enjoy having some of your favorite restaurant items delivered to your door.  It is a great thing to have nowadays.  But you should be wary of how often you are doing it.
