Oddities and Curiosities

If you find yourself drawn to odd or maybe even weird things, you may be a fan of oddities and curiosities, but not even know it! If you're wondering what exactly classifies something as an "oddity" dictionary.com describes an oddity as:

an odd or remarkably unusual person, thing, or event.
the quality of being odd; singularity, strangeness, or eccentricity.
an odd characteristic or trait; peculiarity.
For instance, in my home, I'm a big fan of having oddities and curiosities just because I think they're cool. To me, it's finding beauty in strange places.

For instance, I found a beautiful vintage framed butterfly that I had to have! It's a real butterfly posed inside of a round frame with flowers.  I also have a little bottle with spotted Gecko eggs inside that was a gift from a friend and a few other weird things and small taxidermy (that I make sure to only purchase sustainably) that I just think are cool.

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
