Since Ryan was on vacation last week, I went solo on the predictions for UFC 175 which took place over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised, not only by the event, but also by how I did with my picks.

I decided to go back to the "normal" way of picking winners. That means I take into consideration my general knowledge of each fighter, and I also look at their record, their style, their former opponents, and anything else that can help give me an idea of what to expect. All that, plus I have to remember that anything can happen in MMA, and there is a first time for everything.

I actually felt really good about my picks going into Saturday night, and the results weren't too shabby. Remember, there are 2 points possible per fight - one point for the correct winner and one point for the correct type of victory (submission, KO/TKO, decision).

Urijah Faber defeated Alex Caceras by submission

My pick:  Faber by decision = 1 point

Urijah Fall defeated Thiago Santos by decision

My pick: Hall by KO/TKO = 1 point

Ronda Rousey defeated Alexis Davis by TKO

My pick: Rousey by submission = 1 point

Chris Weidman defeated Lyoto Machida by decision

My pick: Weidman by decision = 2 points

Grand Totals

I got 5 out of a possible 8 points for a winning percentage of 62.5% which is by far my best effort in a long, long time!
