Metallica Played on Old Plastic Bottles Sounds Surprisingly Good!
The talent some people possess will never cease to amaze me!
Old Plastic Bottles Can Make a Cool Instrument
Who knew plastic bottles could sound so cool? There's an instrument called a Flairdrum, and it's a series of plastic bottles along with a metal frame, and when the bottles are hit they make some pretty cool different tones.
The bottle isn't actually what makes the sound, it's created by the pressure in the bottle. Flairdrum.com describes the science behind this instrument as:
With applying air pressure, a PET bottle can create an astonishingly clear and brilliant sound. The ingenious thing about it: The bottle is a sound generator and sound box in one. The higher the pressure, the higher the surface tension of the bottle and thus the higher the tone. Thus, a unique instrument, that invites you to pause and breathe deeply: the flairdrum
They actually sell kits to make your own flairdrum, and fully assembled flairdrums through flairdrum.com so if you like what you hear, you can buy a kit.
Flairdrum Plays Metallica
A YouTuber by the name of Joe Porter shows off odd instruments and plays rock songs on them. Recently in a video, he showed off a flairdrum where he played the part of Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' and it sounds phenomenal! In the video, he also plays Guns N' Roses on a steel pan, Enter Sandman on a hammered dulcimer (which also sounds super cool), and shows off many more instruments and plays little snips of rock and metal songs, check it out below.
