My Co-Host Couldn’t Believe I’d Never Tried This McDonald’s Staple
I Tried My First McDonald’s Burger at 25… and Of Course It Happened on the Radio
Everyone has been talking about the new Big Arch Burger at McDonald’s lately, and that conversation led to a confession I probably should’ve made a long time ago.
Until yesterday… I had never eaten a McDonald’s burger. EVER.
Yes, really.
Wait… You’ve Never Had a McDonald’s Burger?
I know that probably sounds impossible to some people.
Growing up Catholic, I usually stuck with the chicken or fish options whenever my family went through the Golden Arches. And honestly, I didn’t even start liking burgers until I was about 15 years old.
By that point, it just became habit to order the same things whenever I went to McDonald’s. Chicken nuggets? Sure. Filet-O-Fish? Absolutely. A burger? Never really wanted to try one.
So somehow, in my entire 25 years of life, I had never actually had a McDonald's cheeseburger and if you are going to do something "wrong", do it right. And I think my first taste test was done right.
Enter: The Big Arch Burger Taste Test
Bobby and I got an email asking if we wanted to try the new Big Arch Burger and share our reaction. Shout out to Amanda Campbell for emailing us wanting to make this happen. I met Amanda at the Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights and she is just the nicest human being and Bobby and I are extremely grateful she chose US for the taste test.
Of course we said yes — and we decided to make a whole experience out of it.
We’re talking five burgers, three Cokes, two Sprites, and a full taste-test while sharing the moment with our sister stations.
Safe to say, we went all in.
Bobby Was Ready for This Moment
Now Bobby was completely in his element. He’s a loyal McDonald’s app user and grabs their breakfast at least once or twice a week, so trying a new burger wasn’t exactly groundbreaking for him.
For me though… it was stepping into completely new territory.
So… Was It Worth the Wait?
Yes. This was the best way to do it, with my co-workers and friends on camera with a limited time burger that is not your typical Big Mac. After finally branching out beyond the chicken and fish menu, I can officially say my first McDonald’s burger experience didn’t disappoint.
Honestly, after 25 years, I’m just glad my first one came with a pretty entertaining radio moment attached to it. 🍔
And now the real question is… what McDonald’s burger should I try next?
