Exciting and delicious news from Visit Owensboro. Owensboro Burger Week is coming back and restaurants around the city and county are gearing up for another round of fun and feisty competition.

WHEN IS OWENSBORO BURGER WEEK?

Burger Week 2026 will get underway on Thursday, March 5th and will wrap up on Saturday, March 14th. Fans of Owensboro Burger Week know this drill well. It has become a staple annual event and draws thousands and thousands of locals into area restaurants to sample the carnivorous creativity.

Here's a look back at the stat sheet from last year! Burger Week 2025 was record-breaking.

And, yes! You read that correctly. In 2025, there were over 63,000 hamburgers sold during Owensboro Burger Week, where local restaurants are encouraged to create a specialty burger that's sold for just $8. Naturally, there are various 'braggin' rights' up for grabs.

WHO WON OWENSBORO BURGER WEEK LAST YEAR?

One of those prizes is the most prestigious title- The Judges Choice (considered the overall Grand Champion and The Best Burger in Owensboro). The judges panel is made up of local celebrities and hamburger 'experts'. Last year, Niko's Bakery and Cafe took home the top honor with their Smoked Pimento Cretzel Burger.

For the second consecutive year, Kim's Diner claimed the People's Choice Award (as determined by a public vote). They also sold the most burgers during Owensboro Burger Week with 3,468 Sweet & Spicey Bacon Jammy Burgers served up and consumed.

So, who's going to claim victory in 2026? Visit Owensboro is currently in the process of recruiting this year's participating restaurants. The deadline to enter and submit the $8 burger they plan to compete with is Monday, February 16th.
