Kentucky Woman’s Button Jacket is a Journey of 1980s Nostalgia
A couple of years ago, Marcie Means received a button from a friend of hers. See, Marcie is a big fan of horror films and her friend gifted her a fun (and eerily scary) Pennywise button from the movie IT.
That button was the start of what has ultimately become an incredible collection of horror and 1980s nostalgia. Marcie, who confesses that she's obsessed with that particular decade, got a denim jacket and has been on a mission to load it up with vintage buttons from the world of music, movies and pop culture. Now, not all of them scream the 80s, but a bunch of them are collectibles from that era. So far, her jacket is loaded up with 171 buttons.

I'll point out a few of my favorites. First of all, she has a Michael Jackson button and one from the 80s vampire movie The Lost Boys! Both are really cool. I think one of my other favorites from the back is that big button near the bottom center. That's a Kris Kristofferson/Barbra Streisand button from their version of A Star is Born! That movie predates the 80s. It was released in 1976. That button undoubtedly has to be a collector's item.
Like Marcie, I was (and still am) a big Rick Springfield fan. Her jacket is adorned with several buttons which celebrate the guy that gave us "Jessie's Girl," one of THE best songs of the 1980s.
As you can see in that photo, there's a Prince button too that reads, "We are gathered here to get through this thing called life." I love a good "Let's Go Crazy" tribute from the Purple Rain soundtrack.
Of course, there are more nods to classic horror films as well. Notice the Camp Crystal Lake button (from Friday the 13th) and the Chucky button from Child's Play.
She even has a Goonies button tucked in there too!
As cool as Marcie's jacket is, she hasn't stopped there. She decided to accessorize her jacket with a matching denim baseball cap. The hat, naturally, is decked out with buttons as well.
Plus, get this! Marcie and her wife Misty have two new puppies at the house and Marcie has already gotten them miniature jackets that match hers. So, far the pups are up to eight buttons a piece.
While the dogs aren't quite big enough to rock out those denim jackets at the moment, they will be soon. When they do slip them on, they'll be "buttoned up" just like Marcie!
