Indiana Snowstorm Made the Most Beautiful Wedding Backdrop
Tri-State Snowstorm Delivers a Winter Wonderland
This weekend’s snowstorm was a doozy. I watched it roll in all day from my sliding glass doors, hoping it would let up, but it just kept coming down.
All week, forecasters warned us it was coming. Grocery stores looked like a Black Friday Walmart in the 90s. People filled their carts, topped off their gas tanks, and mentally prepared for a full-on snowpocalypse.
A Couple Turns the Snow Into a Photo Opportunity
One Petersburg couple decided to lean into it instead of dodging it. The forecasted snowfall brought a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity along with it.
I spotted the photos in the Evansville Photography group, where local photographer Amanda Daniel shared, “I shot the most beautiful small wedding yesterday as the snow started falling.”
A Storybook Chapel in Southern Indiana
The wedding took place a couple of hours north of Evansville at Stable View Chapel in Jasonville, Indiana. It is a small venue that looks like it jumped straight off the page of a storybook. And the snow gave it an extra layer of magic.
The Couple’s Snowy Decision
I had a chance to talk with the couple, Michal and Loren Ashby, about their day. They admitted they had some hesitation once the forecast started calling for a major snowstorm.
Michal told me, “Loren asked if we should give up the venue and find something closer to home. But my heart was set on that chapel.”
When the Snow Added to the Magic
Once the snow started falling, any doubt melted away. I asked if the weather changed the energy of their day.
“The snow was definitely not in the plans,” they told me. “When it started, it just added to the magic of the day.”
The Shot That Made It All Worth It
Amanda Daniels was there to capture everything, and the photos are truly one-of-a-kind. I asked her if there was a moment when she knew a shot would be unforgettable.
“It was actually the very last shot of the evening,” she said. “We were completely finished, and the bride was about to go change, but I realized we hadn’t taken any photos of her in her adorable hat yet. By then, the snow was really coming down.”
She asked the couple if they could run outside one more time.
“I knew exactly where I wanted them. We made a quick plan, braved the cold, snow, and wind, and went for one last set. It took maybe two minutes, but I knew right away it was the shot.”
The rest is magic! Check out these beautiful photos from the Ashby wedding this weekend.
Congrats to the happy couple and thank you to Amanda for sharing your awesome photos with us. You can view more of her work and reach out to her on her website amandadanielphotography.com.
