It's good to finally get to tell you about a national grocery store chain that will be OPENING stores in Illinois, especially after recent news of more closings.

Just yesterday we heard that another Walgreens will close in downtown Rockford, and a Save A Lot is expected to be shut down before the end of this month in a Chicago suburb.
Most Affordable Grocery Store in the U.S. Opening Location in Illinois
A ranking of the most expensive grocery stores in America had Whole Foods listed near the top, and now there's a list of U.S. supermarkets with the cheapest groceries.
The top 2 most affordable grocery stores have locations in Illinois. Ranked #2 was Woodman's Market with locations in the Chicago suburbs and Rockford.
America's MOST affordable grocery store, according to this list, was Aldi.
Aldi Opening Stores in Illinois, Florida, California, and Arizona
According to a report from Supermarket News, plans have been announced to open four new Aldi supermarkets with a potential for a fifth location in a former Bed, Bath and Beyond building near Las Vegas.
The new stores reportedly opened on February 1 and are in the following locations:
- 200 E. Devon Ave. in Bartlett, Ill.
- 32130 Temecula Parkway in Temecula, Cali.
- 4555 E. Cactus Road in Phoenix, Ariz.
- 6765 22nd Ave. in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The fifth location for Aldi could be in the Vegas suburb of Henderson, Nevada at the location of a former Bed, Bath, and Beyond. According to the report, Aldi submitted their plans for a new store to the City of Henderson in January 2024.
Aldi originated in Germany and opened its first U.S. store in Iowa back in 1976 and currently operates 2,229 stores in America.
