Indiana has received a $1 million grant to support students in completing college.

Governor Mike Pence announced earlier this week that the Lumina Foundation and Complete College America had given the state the generous three-year grant to lend technical assistance for a program called “Guided Pathways to Success.” This program was established to help students manage their education without requiring them to go further into debt.

“In other words, you can still find yourself in college, but you’ll also find yourself holding a degree on graduation after four years,” said Pence.

Indiana has some of the worst college completion rates in the country, with only 33% of students finishing with degrees. A recent report from the Lumina Foundation indicates that these rates are well below the national average.
