There is Something Magical About Fairies
Ever since I was a little girl I have had a fascination with fairies and mermaids. There is just something so magical about these mythical creatures. Even as an adult, I still find wonder in them so you imagine my excitement when I learned that Indiana is home to an Enchanted Fairy Trail - and there is even an annual Enchanted Fairy Festival too!
Find Fairy Trail Stops Across Indiana
What was started by a Brownsburg, Indiana resident who goes by the name Odonata the Dragonfly Fairy has now grown with Fairy Trail stops in several Hoosier cities including Avon, Indianapolis, Plainfield, Brownsburg, and more in Central Indiana, as well as LaPorte County in Northern Indiana and Brown County in Southern Indiana.
Odonata, whose real name is Rebecca Holloway, is a graduate of Ball State University's theater program and is also a graduate of IUPUI Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management. She has worked for years coordinating volunteer programs and events for a number of non-profit organizations in central Indiana.
Add Some Whimsy to Ordinary Life with the Indiana Enchanted Fairy Trail
The Enchanted Fairy Trail itself is made up of businesses and local libraries where visitors of the trail can look around, scavenger-hunt style to find the hidden fairy houses, fairy doors, or fairy gardens. It is a wonderful way to add some whimsy to ordinary life and while also bringing attention to the participating businesses. Perhaps the best part of the trail is that it is free to participate. Central Indiana Fairy Festival Hopes to Break a World Record
2023 brings with it the return of the annual Central Indiana Enchanted Fairy Festival as well. Taking place Saturday and Sunday, May 20th and 21st, the Central Indiana Enchanted Fairy Festival will be held at the Murphy Aquatic Park located in Avon, Indiana. Event organizers hope to break the world record for the most people dressed as fairies in one place. To participate in the record-breaking attempt, a wand, wings and a tutu are required. Learn more about the festival and the attempt at the world record here.
There is no doubt that both the trail and the festival are going to be magical and memorable experiences. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go dust off my fairy wings.
