Fight Hunger in Western Kentucky At the Annual Food Drive in Henderson
We are once again partnering with Henderson Chevrolet to help ensure our friends and neighbors have food on the table this holiday season.
Many of Our Friends and Neighbors Are Struggling
The holidays are a wonderful time to pause and reflect on how fortunate we are, particularly for the little things like putting food on the table. Unfortunately, for many of of friends and neighbors that is more of a struggle than you may realize.
Food Insecurity Is a Growing Problem
It seems in recent years the cost of everything, especially groceries, has continued to climb. For many families in our community, they are finding themselves facing food insecurity - some for the very first times in their lives.
More Than 50 Million Americans Needed Food Assistance Last Year
Feeding America shares that more than 47 million people across the United States face food insecurity and hunger. In 2023, more than 50 million Americans had to reach out for assistance through food banks, pantries, and community organizations.
1 in 6 People in Kentucky Face Food Insecurity
Our friends and neighbors are faced with the fear of where their next meal will come from, not just for the holidays but every day. According to Feeding America, 710,000 people across the Kentucky are facing hunger, and 208,330 of them are children. That comes out to one in every six people and one in every five children. That is a staggering statistic that has grown dramatically in recent years.
You Can Help Our Friends and Neighbors in Kentucky
If you are fortunate enough that you are not facing food insecurity, you can help those thousands of friends and neighbors by making a donation during our annual Helping the Hungry Can Food Drive with Henderson Chevrolet and Sureway Foods.
