Whether you're a foodie, a shopaholic or you love spooky history, Savannah, Georgia should be on your travel bucket list.

The Hostess City of the South had been on my list of must-visit places for a long time. When my daughter and I started planning our annual road trip to celebrate her 22nd birthday, we both agreed Savannah was the place we both wanted to go.

While it was definitely hot and humid in Savannah the first week of August, it really wasn't much worse than home - yeah, midwestern summers, I'm looking at you. We had read online that Savannah is a 'walking city.' We were grateful that took heed and packed comfortable shoes.

We did do a lot of walking. Our Airbnb was located in Midtown, just a short walk from Downtown and really, a short walk from just about every place with visited, with a few exceptions. Whether you prefer a posh hotel or are more like us and would rather stay in an artsy Airbnb, there are plenty of lodging options in Savannah.

There are also a lot of options for food and drink. A lot of options. Looking for sushi or tacos? You can find it. Prefer cocktails in a glam, underground speakeasy? They've got that too. Want to hang in a dive-bar with Abraham Lincoln drawings hung everywhere? You can find that too.

There is also no shortage of places to shop in Savannah, whether you're looking for a big-name mall store, a charming boutique experience or you'd like to hunt for antique treasures. This southern city has it all. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorites.
