EVSC made the announcement on their Facebook page, here's all the info.
On Facebook the EVSC posted that on November 19th, EVSC will be closed so teachers can attend the Red for Ed Action Day in Indianapolis. The day will be made up using the virtual learning option.
The EVSC has made the decision to close on November 19, 2019 in order for our educators to attend the Red for Ed Action Day in Indianapolis. This day will be made up using the virtual learning option. Teachers will be communicating the details of the virtual work prior to this day.
“I support our teachers advocating for funding levels that, at a minimum, keep pace with annual inflation rates for each and every public school district,” said Superintendent David Smith. “We did not make the decision to close without a great deal of thought due to the impact this has on our families; however, our current and future students deserve to be taught by teachers who are valued and respected for the tremendous work they do in our classrooms.”
Information about the rally can be found at http://www.ista-in.org/invest-in-education.
The Red for Ed Action Day is put on by the Indiana State Teachers Association to help advocate to get better funding for public schools, better pay for teachers, and advocate for children.
