Since opening its doors on Evansville's east side just over one year ago, Mission BBQ has been serving up some of the best barbecue in the area, and giving back to local non-profit organizations with donations collected through sales of their "American Heroes" line up 32-ounce plastic cups. The latest of which will benefit 911 Gives Hope.

Since the company began just over five years ago, they've made it their mission (hence the name) to not only serve great barbecue like chicken, pulled pork, sausage, and brisket, but to recognize, honor, and assist, in whatever way possible, the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every single day to keep the rest of us safe, whether they be members of the military, police, or fire department.

The blue cup fundraiser they're currently hosting for 911 Gives Hope isn't the first time they've given back to the local police and firefighter organization. Back in September, they held a similar fundraiser which brought in $10,000. I still have my cup from that fundraiser proudly sitting on my desk.

It also adds a really nice splash of color to my otherwise mundane office.

If you've never been to Mission for lunch or dinner, you're really doing yourself a disservice. If you're torn on what to get, I generally alternate between the "Half a Yard Bird" (a.k.a. half smoked chicken), the smoked sausage, and the brisket which is fall-apart juicy. And be sure to get a side of their Mac 'N' Cheese. It's so good, it gives Grandma a run for her money.

The blue cup campaign won't last long, so be sure to stop by Mission BBQ in the Eastland Shoppes at the intersection of Green River Road and Morgan Avenue to get yours for just $3.99 before they're gone. $2.00 from each cup purchased will go directly to 911 Gives Hope. Plus, be sure to take it with you during future trips to Mission for 99-cent refills!
