Black Stone Cherry Unleash Seductive Bluesy Rocker ‘Bad Habit’
Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry have released ‘Bad Habit,’ a new taste of their upcoming album Family Tree. The energetic track highlights the band’s signature bluesy rock sound and shows off frontman Chris Robertson’s powerful vocals.
With an opening drum stick count off, some swampy guitar licks and Robertson's swagger-filled vocals, "Bad Habit" tells the story of a seductive temptress who the singer just can't get enough of. A mid-song breakdown slips into a tempo change with some nasty guitar work thrown in for good measure before the track returns to its regularly scheduled rocking.
"Bad Habit" is the second offering from Family Tree, which will be released on April 20. The album nods to their musical heroes drawing heavy inspiration from Cream, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, The Faces and more. Last month, the band gave fans their first taste of the effort when they released “Burnin’.”
Family Tree features 13 Southern fried tracks including “Dancing in the Rain,” a collaboration with Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule fame. Drummer John Fred Young says the album “showcases all of our collective musical influences and how we have taken those to create something that is truly our own unique Southern American rock 'n roll sound."
Fans can pre-order the effort via digital outlets here, or check out the physical bundle options here. The group is currently out on the road and will play four shows with Gov’t Mule starting April 18 in Bethlehem, Pa. Check out their tour dates here.
