The third season of Better Call Saul arrived at its latest yet with an April premiere, but that’s nothing compared to Jimmy McGill’s fourth year. New episodes of Better Call Saul have only just started production, and will likely bring us closer to Breaking Bad than ever.

Co-creator Peter Gould tweeted out the start of production this past Monday, confirming that Season 3 director Minkie Spiro will helm the Season 4 premiere. The Breaking Bad prequel’s first two seasons both premiered in February of their respective years, though Season 4’s late production date might push it all the way into September.

No immediate reason was given for the delay in production, though UPROXX poses that Season 4 might have required longer writing time, given the challenge of re-orienting the series after Michael McKean’s exit, and likely pushing closer to the Breaking Bad years that first introduced Saul. It was back in September we first learned that both Better Call Saul and Veep would have later 2018 premieres, thereby missing the May 31 Emmy window for the year, and likely opening up the field in September.

It remains unclear if Giancarlo Esposito’s Gustavo “Gus” Fring will play as large a part in the series this year, but what other familiar Breaking Bad faces might pop up. Is now finally the time for that oft-discussed Walt or Jesse cameo?
