A Mask Will be Required in Evansville Beginning Wednesday July 15th
On July 10th Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced that he will be drafting an executive order mask mandate for Evansville that will go into effect on July 15th.
The Mayor made the following statement in his press conference:
These are the medical experts in our community. If you're like me when you go to the doctor, you've got something wrong, you take their advice to get better. That's what we need to do. An executive order is being drafted face coverings will be required in indoor public spaces.
More details will be coming at the beginning of next week. But we do know that EPD will not be redirected from their normal jobs to enforce this, and at this time they don't have plans on fining people who violate the mandate. We'll keep you updated as we hear more. To watch the full press conference with Mayor Winnecke and health experts from our area, see the full press conference here.
