The Best and Worst Jobs in America!

from Wall Street Journal

Career website Careercast.com has come out with its list of the best and worst jobs of 2012. And it doesn’t look good for lumberjacks.

Using a formula that looks at physical demands, income, work environment, stress and hiring outlook, the website ranked the top 200 jobs. The website also looked at the most stressful jobs in America.

The best job? A software engineer. The pay is great (average salary is $88,000/year), hiring demand for their skills is through the roof, and working conditions have never been better.

The worst job? A lumberjack. The job fell in the bottom 10 percent of all ranking categories excluding income.

”Unemployment for lumberjacks is very high, and the demand for their services is expected to continue to fall through 2016. And while working outside all day may seem like a great job perk, being a lumberjack not only is considered the worst job, but also one of the world’s most dangerous,” according to the article on Careercast.com.

The average salary for a lumberjack? Around $32,000 a year.
