I do this every October. Share with you my favorite Halloween movies.  This time around it's for adults only.  The content of these movies is everything you'd want a good Horror film to be; psychologically twisted, scary/chill factor. gore when the story line calls for it and at least one movie that will make you squirm in your seat.  Some of these movies you will know well, some not.  Who knows, maybe I'll turn you onto something new here!  Enjoy, and Happy Halloween.

"The Stranger" 2008 - Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman endure a night of being terrorized by Strangers who simply do what they do for a thrill.  This movie is super creepy, and a lot of that is due to there's very little soundtrack music.  It's got chills and is light on gore, but the movie doesn't need it to be effective.  WATCH IT if you haven't already.

"Maniac" (original) 1980

A very disturbing sleaze Horror classic, written, produced and starring Joe Spinnel who was a charaacter actor that appeared in "Rocky", "The Godfather", "Taxi Driver" and more.  Special effects by Tom Savini who also plays the shotgun victim. With Tom doing the FX, the gore is great and aplenty in this movie.  The late Joe Spinnel plays a great "Maniac".  Watch it if you've got a strong stomach.  This movie was heavily criticized by Women Against Violence upon it's release.

"When A Stranger Calls" (1979)

Carol Kane, who went onto bigger and better things, stars in this super creepy movie.  No real violence to speak of, but remember the phrase "Have You Checked The Children?"  The remake was terrible as most remakes are. Always choose the oriiginal.

"Last House On The Left"  (1972)

The late Wes Craven's debut in the world of horror films.  It is loosely based on the book :Virgin Spring".   This one has plenty of brutality and an unforgettable scene that helped etch this movie into horror film history.  I remember seeing this at the drive-in and being scared shitless. "Keep Repeating...It's only a movie".  Again, don't bother with the remake.

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1973)

A movie made on a very low budget, using drama students from the nearby college as well as real townfolk, this movie is based on 'some' true events.  The Narrator John Larroquette from "Night Court" says in the intro that "These Events Are True". That makes it even scarier.  Tobe Hooper who directed an co-wrote this movie.  He later went on to direct "Poltergeist", but this movie feels so real, it's become iconic.  The MTV generation and younger probably though the sequels and remakes were good.  Bullshit.  Watch the original, and Have A Happy Halloween"
