It's been 12 years to the day (Dec. 8) since we tragically lost the unmatched talents of Pantera legend "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. With this massive void in the metal world, all footage of Dime has become precious as fans pour through videos of the guitarist in qaction. Dime and his brother Vinnie Paul formed Damageplan as Pantera's end came about and now previously unseen footage has surfaced of the band rehearsing the Pantera classic "Becoming."

The Far Beyond Driven track was created using whammy pedals that shifted octaves to give the song an unmistakable sound. In the clip above, the video picks up right before Dimebag's solo and then back into the tectonic feature riff. The footage was filmed on Oct. 24, 2004, less than two months before the iconic axeman was fatally shot onstage in Columbus, Ohio.

Damageplan had only released one album, New Found Power, before the tragedy, but had plans to record a follow-up. Vinnie Paul recently told us that he intends to release the demo recordings for the second Damageplan record, but did not give an expected timetable as to when that would come to light.

Vinnie Paul also shared one thing the world doesn't know about Dimebag Darrell, telling us that Dime had a guitar and recorder set up in the bathroom and would write riffs on the porcelain throne. “Man, that’s where I write all my riffs — that’s why my riffs are the s–t," Dime would say to Vinnie.
